“Uchimura Summers” is a haphazard and happy-go-lucky variety show that welcomes guests to be the MC on every improvised episode together with the main 3 cast members of Teruyoshi Uchimura and the coemdians Summers (Masakazu Mimura and Kazuki Otake).
The broadcast started on November 1st, 2006, on the video broadcasting site “Miranka”, and since its launch, it became a reknown program on the site which always maintained the top ranking in the number of views on the top page.
From July 1, 2009, it was broadcasted on Uchimura Summers’ official website, and then moved to NTT Plala’s video distribution service “Hikari TV.” There, the show’s restriction-less, free, and laid-back atmosphere allowed it to gain popularity, and it has become an unprecedently longstanding program on an Internet broadcast.
After its release, it was broadcasted on TOKYO MX and other terrestrial television stations. In 2015, the movie “Uchimura Summers THE MOVIE Angel” was also released.
In addition, this program has been continuously sold as DVDs and has been supported by many core fans. Regarding DVD sales, with the release of “Uchimura Summers vol.40” on July 25th, 2012, the show was certified as the Guinness World Record for the most DVDs released by a single Japanese style variety show.
Currently, the archived works of Uchimura Summers are under non-exclusive distribution on Amazon Prime Video.
